However, this time only students who will be pursuing tertiary education at a campus attached to the University of the West Indies (UWI) can apply.
The scholarship is being awarded by Kittitian-born Dr. Janice Joseph who is a professor of Criminology and Criminal Justice at Stockton University USA.
Joseph is offering a scholarship of US$1,500 to a student who fits the criteria of being a national of St. Kitts and Nevis and is a current or perspective student at any campus of the University of West Indies for this upcoming school year (2014-2015).
Six scholars have already benefited from the scholarship; LaReal Wilson in 2008, Violet Williams was awarded in 2009, Deon Webb in 2010, Azard Gumbs was the recipient in 2011, Jherez Taylor in 2012, and Leanne Knight was awarded last year; 2013.
A press release explained that students who are interested in the award must apply by letter in which they should state their name, contact information and outline (1) their course of study (2) their financial standing and support (3) statement why they should be awarded the scholarship (500 – 800 words) (4) two letters of recommendation (no relatives) and (5) current high school/university transcript.
