Drugs and Ammunition Seized and One Arrested by Security Forces

 In line with this proactive approach, a joint operation was undertaken on Saturday night in the Central Basseterre area known as McKnight and the East Basseterre district of Newtown.

 The police action was carried out by what is being called “Delta Squad”, made up of both police and Defence Force personnel.

The night time operation according to a Government release led to the arrest of one person and the seizure of a small quantity of ammunition.

 The release quoted Commissioner Walwyn as saying that members of the joint security forces (Delta Squad) conducted stop and search foot patrol operations in the Mc Knight and Newtown areas Saturday.  Twenty-five (25) police contacts resulted in one person being arrested and 24 dime bags of marijuana being confiscated.

He said the joint operation is “part of the ‘Zero Tolerance Take Back The Streets Initiative’.”

Mr. Walwyn said the joint operation will be ongoing seven days a week.

“The public is asked to cooperate and to keep in mind that this is a zero tolerance initiative,” said the Commissioner.
