Last Sunday Baugh was called up as a replacement for Denesh Ramdin, who sustained a fractured right thumb while at the team camp in Barbados. He is expected to be out of action for a minimum of two weeks.
The selectors then turned to Baugh — an able and capable replacement. Last Friday, Baugh made a brilliant century (140) for Jamaica against Trinidad & Tobago in the Regional 4 Day tournament match at Queen’s Park Oval. Baugh joined the squad on Monday and got down to business of a hard day at training on Tuesday.
“I’m feeling really great about the way I’m playing at the moment. I’m hitting the ball really well and enjoying my cricket. I felt I batted well to get up to 140 against Trinidad last weekend, so I’m hoping to bring that kind of form into these One-Day matches against Australia,” the 29-year-old said.
“I’m always prepared. I’m always waiting for an opportunity to represent the West Indies. It came in an unexpected way but I am ready and fully focussed to represent the West Indies.”
West Indies will have another training session at Arnos Vale on Wednesday morning.
