Antoinette Walwyn, a member of the church, coordinated the donation of 500 eating utensils which will be shared among the Cayon, St. Pauls, Bronte Welsh, Saddlers and Dieppe Bay Primary Schools as well as the Cotton Thomas Comprehensive School. The donation was presented to Chief Education Officer in the Ministry of Education Clarice Cotton on Tuesday (October 14).
“We’re pleased to … donate to the Federation the tumblers, the bowls and the cups,” Mrs. Walwyn said. “It’s a pleasure because … God blessed us in 2012 and we were able to donate a washer and dryer to the Frigate Bay Police Station. Last year we did a 500 piece set of eating utensils for the children and once again this year.”
Mrs. Walwyn added that while she was not born in the Federation she has a special bond to the country.
“Although I am not on my birth soil I am a Kittitian,” she stressed. “With that being said thank you once again on behalf of Greeneway Church where my pastor is Dr. Wade B. Mumm … and to our children [in St. Kitts and Nevis] we look forward to being able to do many more things here.”
One such project is expected to take place in 2015 when a group is expected to go to Nevis to assist the renovation of a local church.
