J’ouvert morning began in the wee hours on Monday 1st August 2011, which was also celebrated as Emancipation Day.
A number of electronic bands from the twin island federation were on hand to provide musical entertainment for the hundreds who took part in the j’ouvert morning. One of the nation’s popular disk-jockey ‘Dj Ronnie Rascal’ and his Extreme also journeyed over to Nevis to take part in this year’s j’ouvert jam.
“I had a great time at j’ouvert in Nevis” said a Kittitian lady “I was really there to jam with Sugar Band (Nu Vybes), they mashed up the place”
The ferry terminal in Basseterre was very busy with Kittitians who have made the Culturama Emancipation J’ouvert a must attend lime in the summer.
Two of Nevis’ bands had a no show on j’ouvert morning. Fans are speculating that this was caused by the incidents which had happened earlier.
However the organizers are reporting that they had an incident free j’ouvert jam.
