It is said that j’ouvert brings out the most unique traditions of our people, albeit in a spirit of mass gyration, alcohol, calypso music and ‘wassy’ behaviour not displayed at any other period in the year.
Though the early morning Boxing Day madness is still one month away, signs of what is to come could was unfolded here Saturday night when the official launch of the oldest J’ouvert group, the Extreme J’ouvert Troupe, took place on Wigley Avenue in West Basseterre, in front of the famous Tony Berry Shop.
Organizer and Troupe owner, popular radio and night club DJ, Ronnie Rascal, told MiyVue.com that all systems are ready for the this year’s carnival and he is eagerly anticipating the splendour that is to unfold.
