Families of plane crash victims prepare for burial

Police issued a press statement yesterday indicating that Trinidadian pathologist Dr Hugh Desvignes, along with Dr Sekeena Goodwin, conducted post mortems over the weekend and issued death certificates, which confirmed the fatalities were directly due to injuries sustained in the disaster at VC Bird International Airport.

Relatives are now moving forward with final preparations for the thanksgiving ceremonies for the victims – pilot Jason Forbes, 31, Sandrama Poligadu, 57, who was travelling to Montserrat to help her daughter during a troubled pregnancy, and Annya Duncan who was celebrating her 29th birthday the same day of the deadly incident.

Fly Montserrat VP-MON flight 107 crashed shortly after 4 pm on Sunday, October 7. Forbes and Duncan were pronounced dead on the scene while Poligadu died at hospital.

Forbes’ mother, Carol Joseph, said the date for his burial would be announced shortly.

Poligadu will be flown home to her native Guyana for burial while Duncan is to be buried shortly in her country of birth – Jamaica.

Meantime, the sole survivor of the incident, 23-year-old Michael Hudson of the United Kingdom, has since been flown home after undergoing treatment at Mount St John’s Medical Centre.
