Fans urged to attend carnival shows early

Basseterre, Thursday, 25th November 2021, (MyVue News.com)-The build-up to this year’s carnival celebrations in St. Kitts & Nevis is already being felt, with the release of the latest soca and calypso music, as well as the reveal of the contestants for the various pageants.

And now with the dates for the major competitions fast approaching, the Carnival Committee has been making an extra effort to sensitize local fans about the requirements and procedures to be expected when attending the events, in person.

Though heavily constrained by COVID-19 restrictions, carnival this year is expected to attract tremendous support from an audience that has been starved of entertainment for almost two years.

Therefore, as the Carnival Committee finalizes its plans for the remaining eight shows scheduled for the 50th Anniversary, they have also issued a call to patrons, to be prepared for the extra procedures that have become necessary as part of the fight to prevent the spread of the Coronavirus.

The organizers are therefore encouraging patrons to arrive at least two hours ahead of the start of the various shows and competitions, to avoid delays, due to the protocols required for the screening of spectators.

“As it pertains to the gates, what we are encouraging is that you would have your vaccination cards and IDs ready to enter the events…” said the Chair of the Gates and Finance Committee, Clytie Gilbert.

This, said Gilbert, would help to accelerate the entry process and avoid patrons having to be in long lines, with a long waiting period before entering the venue.

She said that the gates will be opened two hours ahead of the start of shows and they would like to see patrons arriving on time for each event.

“so please get your tickets early. Tickets for the other shows after this weekend will go on sale from the first week of December,” said the head of the Finance and gates Committee.

Tickets for the shows will be sold at the Carnival Office on Cayon Street, in the E.C. Daniel Building and will also be available online.

The marquee events slated for the rest of November and December, include the following:

National Queen Pageant Runway-Sunday, 28th November

Carnival Icons-Tuesday, 21st December

National Swimsuit Contest-Wednesday, 22nd December

Soca Finals-Thursday, 23rd December

Bubble J’ouvert-Monday, 27th December

National Queen Pageant-Wednesday, 29th December

Senior Calypso Finals-Friday, 30th December

However, the next calendar event will be the final Calypso Tent, scheduled for this Saturday, 27th November, at Carnival Village, Basseterre.
