According to some unofficial sources on the British dependent territory, a team of agents from the United States Federal Bureau of Investigation, (FBI) and some unconfirmed reports say, the British Scotland Yard, have been able to capture members of a gang that is being accused of attempting to import 100 sniper rifles and semi-automatic weapons into Anguilla.
However, the alleged criminals were intercepted by authorities, after they were alerted by a firearms dealer in the United States.
The FBI agents flew into Anguilla to apprehend the perpetrators, according to one report. The guns were received at the Post Office where an employee allegedly involved, arrived before working hours and began loading the weapons into a vehicle.
He was however under surveillance by FBI and local authorities and was apprehended. He quickly gave up the names of two others involved, both of whom have also been arrested. It is reported that Scotland Yard and British officials are very much concerned about this new development on Anguilla.
The incident is said to have occurred on Thursday, 8th December, 2011.
