Each year around this time, schools, both secondary and primary, head on vacation from classroom instructions, to experience the Christmas celebrations and Carnival festive activities.
With school now out, children everywhere in St Kitts and Nevis are busy, roaming Basseterre in search of Christmas jobs; to generate income for the season and upcoming school term. Others are assisting in cleaning their dwellings.
Some Fifth Form students and other hopefuls, however, who are looking to sit CXC, are still focusing on school, as they try to complete their School Based Assessments, SBAs, for the examinations to come in June 2012.
Other students have been observed preparing themselves to be a part of the return of the Children’s Carnival and enjoying other upcoming festive activities.
After joining the Children’s Carnival last year with the senior carnival parade, it was revealed at the launch of Sugar Mas 40:40, back in October, that the committee decided to reintroduced the Children’s Carnival, giving the youngsters their own day to have fun.
This year the Children’s Carnival will be held at the Sugar Mill on Friday 30th December.
The new school term is set to begin on Monday 9th January, 2012 at 8:25 am.
