Officials here at the St. Kitts and Nevis Football Association, SKNFA, in reacting to the gesture from the FIFA President, indicated that this is the first time that the head of world football has ever made such gesture for any champion of the sport in the federation.
In his letter to the team, Blatter said that “On behalf of the world football community I would like to thank Conaree for the excitement they bring to fans of the beautiful game, and I wish them much success in the years to come.”
In the letter that was officially passed through the president of the local football association, Blatter told the Conaree FC that he wanted to extend his warmest congratulations to the team for winning their first ever league championship, which he said is an achievement that crowns their impressive rise to the top of their country’s football in recent years
His appreciation was extended to the players, the manager, the technical and medical staff, and all the team’s supporters, as each part of this organization has no doubt been instrumental in the club’s victory, said Blatter.
Conaree’s rise to the top came when they defeated St. Pauls FC in the finals of a three game encounter that made it just to two matches, both of which were won by Conaree.
The club will this weekend be celebrating their victory in grand style with a motorcade.
The event is slated for 31st August 2013 at 11am. The champacade will be assembled at the Conaree community, which will take route westerly throughout the island. Upon arriving back to the Conaree community, the Kollision Band will entertain attendees with their unique style of music into the night. They said that this event is coupled as a fund raising event as the football club is still presently without a sponsor.
