On Saturday 16th October, 2010 the project for the reconstruction of the school’s play area began. Teachers of the pre-school, fathers of the community as well as volunteers from the CIBC FirstCaribbean International Bank came together in an effort to make this project a reality.
The school is now equipped with a ‘state-of –the-art’ play set with monkey bars, swings, benches and a wide area where classes could be held.
CIBC First Caribbean’s Adopt-A-Cause program was the driving force behind the success of this project. This program helps and supports community activities, it develops a community and in return it brings the staff of CIBC First Caribbean Bank closer as they embark on projects together as well as creating a vibrant communication link between the bank and its surrounding communities.
The volunteers from the bank who worked on the assignment acknowledged the loyal parents of the students attending the pre-school, the Nevis Housing and Land Development Corporation and S L Horsfords and Company Ltd for joining with them to make a contribution towards making the project a success.
Country Manager of FirstCaribbean, G. Peter Edmunds, thanked the volunteers for staying so true to the project, and noted that CIBC First Caribbean International Bank is deeply aware of its corporate social responsibility towards the communities which it serves, and added that the bank is committed to partnering in similar projects with communities in the 17 countries in which it operates.
