The sister of the late U.S. President John F. Kennedy, Mrs. Shriver, is prominently known for being a leader in the worldwide effort to advance and develop the lives of persons with intellectual disabilities. Her obsession resulted in her creation of the Special Olympics, which started as a summer day camp in her backyard in 1962.
National Director of Special Olympics St. Kitts and Nevis, Clarice Cotton said that the Federation will be involved in the 2nd Annual Global EKS Day by staging a rematch of the Premier League Finals between the S.L. Horsford St. Pauls and Rams Village Superstars Football Clubs.
The match will be staged at the Warner Park Football Stadium on September 24th and will kick off at 5:00 p.m.
Also, special athletes of St. Kitts and Nevis will take to the field in a game of Bocce.
Ms. Cotton encouraged all individuals and families who have no prior involvement with Special Olympics programme to support the event.
The theme of EKS Day is “Play Unified to Live Unified.” Mrs. Shriver died on August 11, 2009.
