Daniel was the Junior Minister of Tourism for Nevis in 2011.
This year the event organized by the Culturama committee had only four contestants, however, they all performed exceptionally well in front of a good size crowd of pageantry lovers.
The contestants competed against each other in five segments namely, Cultural Icon Speech, Swimwear, Performing Talent, Evening Wear and Interview. The icon speech pays tribute to Nevisians who have assisted with the cultural aspects in society.
When the results returned Clayticia comfortably won four of the five judged segments; Cultural Icon Speech, Swimwear, Evening Wear and Interview, amassing a total of 1007 points and snatching the crown and the title.
In the interview segment, which some would argue is the most difficult and nerve wrenching, she eloquently provided the answer to the question gaining loud cheers and applauses from the audience.
FLOW’s contestant Xarriah Browne was named 1st runner up with 970 points. Even though she was unable to pick up awards for the judged categories, her consistency elevated her to that position. She received the award for Most Photogenic, which is usually decided by the photographer.
The other contestants were Phillichar Hobson, sponsored by the St. Kitts-Nevis-Anguilla National Bank, and Perla Gumbs, Miss Carib Brewery St. Kitts-Nevis Ltd. Hobson won the awards for having the best talent and also for being the people’s choice, while Gumbs was named the friendliest contestant and awarded the title Miss Congeniality.
The Culturama activities continue today, Monday 1st August, 2016, with J’Ouvert, the Herbert’s Beach Affair and the Miss Caribbean Culture Pageant.
