Amongst those demonstrating their love and support for the late Mr. James, included representatives from the St. Kitts Amateur Basketball Association, of which Mr. James was an executive member, players and officials from the McKnight Trotters Basketball Team and the Garden Hotspurs Football Team.
Delon who was a former resident of the McKnight area of Basseterre was also a well known sport personality who specialized in football and basketball.
It was a solemn moment for the family of the late Mr. James, many of whom flew in from overseas, to bid him farewell. For some, the feelings of loss and hurt were too difficult to contain, and as a result broke down in tears, as the remains of their loved one was being interred at the Springfield Cemetery, in Basseterre.
According to an autopsy that was performed on the former Chief Engineer of the Public Works Department (PWD), it was revealed that James died of “congestive heart failure after collapsing at his Mattingley Heights home in the presence of a friend.
The autopsy, according to the police, was conducted on Thursday, 16th June, 2011, by Dr. Adrien Nunez. The release indicated that the cause of death was “congestive heart failure due to dilated cardio myopathy.”
