Former Trinidad Finance Minister for Private Sector Gala

Browne has had over 25 years of experience in finance and banking and is expected to focus his presentation at the Chamber of Industry & Commerce event, on the topic, “”Lessons from the Euro Zone for St Kitts and Nevis”.

He is also expected to draw on his formal training as a graduate of the University of the West Indies, St. Augustine Campus, with a degree in Economics.

Prior to his appointment as Minister in the Ministry of Finance, Mr. Browne was Chief Executive Officer of the Bank of Butterfield, Barbados. He is also a fellow of the Institute of Chartered Certified Accountants (UK), and holds an MBA in Finance from the University of Wales/ Manchester Business School. He has served as president of both the Barbados Bankers Association and the Barbados Institute of Banking and Finance.

Mr. Browne has published and presented several papers on banking and finance, including a presentation on “Managing Banking Crisis” to the Plenary Session of XV World Congress of Accounts held in Paris in October 1997. He has been involved not only in the planning and start-up of new financial institutions but has also been involved in several turnaround situations in the finance industry.
Meanwhile, the new President of the Chamber of Industry & Commerce, Mr. David Lake, the current Country Manager of telecommunications company LIME, is also down to make a formal presentation to the leaders of business, industry and government, who will be attending the gala affair. Diplomats and other government officials will also be present at the gala.

This year, a unique approach has been taken, and instead of the usual hotel or resort venue, the banquet will be hosted on board the MV Freewinds, which is now docked at Port Zante, Basseterre. It will take place on Saturday 16th June, from 6:30pm.

Lake will report on the challenges and opportunities that have affected the private sector during the last 12 months.

The audience will also benefit from the public sector perspective to be provided by the Prime Minister, Dr. Denzil Douglas.

Following the formal presentations, the Freewinds Band and a guest artiste will entertain the gathering.
