The regional clash finals brought together mixologists from seven Caribbean islands; Antigua, Barbados, Grenada, Jamaica, St. Kitts and Nevis, St. Lucia and St. Vincent as they all vied for regional supremacy.
The bartenders were allowed a total of seven minutes in order to make two drink blends each in the Freestyle and Rum Cocktail category. Each recipe had to include a minimum of five dashes of Angostura Aromatic Bitters or Orange Bitters.
In a post competition interview Kendie said that she was excited to have represented the Federation in a regional competition of that nature, however, it being her first major event the glare of the lights got her a bit nervous causing her to make a little spill of one of her drinks. Nonetheless she is pleased to have placed third amongst the group of seasoned mixologists.
In the press release that followed, the writer had this to say, “St. Kitts and Nevis’ Kendie Browne, another of three female contestants, snatched third place. Browne brought a distinct carnival-esque vibe to her performance by donning a colourful masquerade mask and effortlessly produced two delightfully refreshing creations called ‘Mango Fusion’ and ‘Angostura Ginger’”. What was not said was that Kendie’s drinks were awarded best in taste.
Angostura which has a long tradition of spicing up cuisines worldwide is distributed locally by C&C Trading Ltd. It’s highly concentrated flavouring made from a selection of aromatic herbs and spices makes it ideal for all culinary purposes.
The Management and Staff of C&C Group of Companies have congratulated Kendie on her great performance and wished her all the best in future competitions as she continues to hone her bartending skills.
