The free health program has been introduced to help strengthen efforts already being made at the health centres to provide women with complementary pap smears.
J and J medical services, in collaboration with the Nevis Maternal Health Fund, Health Promotion Unit, Voices of Women, Pink Lily, Renal Society, Social Services, and F.I.T Wellness Centre, are the organizations that have teamed up to host the 5th free pap smear screening on 21st July, from 8:30 am to 1.00 pm, at the J and J Medical Services, located at Happy Hill, on Marion Avenue.
According to a press release, issued ahead of the clinic, the targeted population will benefit from the free screening. The pap smear screening will be held alongside a health fair mounted by the collaborating agencies. Activities at the fair will include informative sessions about cervical cancer, breast cancer, diabetes, high blood pressure, and renal failure.
Since its inception in 2003, J &J Medical Services has been holding pap smear screening clinics several times each year, in an effort to strengthen the already established educational and screening programs run by the Nevis Ministry of Health. So far, 193 ladies have benefited from the annual free pap smear screening, offered at J &J Medical Services.
