Andre Fletcher and Kevin Pietersen hit big scores to lead the Zouks to a massive victory. Fletcher scored 77 off 50 balls and Pietersen scored 73 off 39 balls. Ross Taylor, who was not out, amassed 23 off 18 balls.
It was a herculean task for the Tridents to write off the Zouks 205, the most runs scored at Warner Park in the 2015 CPL T20 thus far.
Malik, who was man of the match in the first game against the Zouks scored 31 off 19 balls before being caught by Johnson Charles. Munaweera scored 23 off 18 balls and was dismissed by a catch by Darren Sammy, the Zouks captain. Tridents captain, Dwayne Smith didn’t quite perform as he is accustomed to, merely acquiring 16 runs off 18 balls before being caught by Darren Sammy. Pollard, who was run out collected 31 runs off 27 balls. Hope was bowled by Edwards for 15 and Holder, not out, made 31 off 19 balls. At the end of their twenty overs, the Tridents had made 172 for 7.
Man of the match Andre Fletcher said that he was in great form.
“I’ve been working hard in Dominica, and it’s good to see that I come into the CPL and continue that form. I want to continue right through the tournament and ensure that our team reaches the finals. We are much more balanced than we were for the last two years. Once we continue that form with bat and ball, I can’t see us not reaching the finals,” Fletcher said.
Zouks’ Captain Darren Sammy said that he was pleased with the performance.
“That’s the type of performance you want in a T20 match, all round performances,” Sammy said, adding, “Playing against the defending champions, we’ve tried six times and never beaten them, so it was a good day to start, and the way we went out and batted on that wicket, it was really good, so we must commend Fletcher and Pietersen. We are quite happy with the performances.”
The St. Lucia Zouks received US$7500, as winners of the match.
