Sir Cuthbert, who celebrated his 90th birthday on Saturday 22nd October, 2011, has been serving St. Kitts and Nevis as Governor General since 1996, becoming only the second person to hold that office, after the retirement of the nation’s first Governor General, the late Sir Clement Arrindell.
Dr. Sebastian, at 90, is one of the oldest Heads of State worldwide and while there have been speculations that the he is soon to retire, there has been no such confirmation from either Government House or Government Headquarters.
The Governor General has had quite a distinguished career as medical doctor, having qualified in 1958. He is a also a former Chief Medical Officer for the country and once served as the late Premier Robert Bradshaw’s ADC. He was also an accomplished athlete in his earlier years as was one of the country’s top sprinters.
MiyVue.com joins many others in wishing Governor General Sebastian the very best as he celebrates this remarkable milestone as one of the country’s most distinguished senior citizens.
