The j’ouvert session is due to commence at 5:00am, with music being provided by the Xcess band and the sweetest band in the world, Small Axe.

One of the added attractions for Monday will be the well-loved “wet down” fiesta, in front of the Cayon health centre, from 11:00am-12 noon while the street breakfast is slated to take place next to the police station from 10:00am.Green Valley parade 1

These events will bring the festival to a close, after being launched last week Friday.

The theme for this year’s celebration is “Forget the Crime, Enjoy the Lime” Green Valley Festival 2012: Sweet Sixteen Celebration.

The festival is said to be an exposition of culture and a treasured tradition that is passed down year after year. It draws on African customs from including music, dancing and masquerades.
