St. Kitts has been producing some comprehensive victories so far, since the tournament got started last Saturday, 2nd July, and in their latest games they trounced sister island Nevis, 75-6 on Monday night and former sister island Anguilla got their beating on Sunday night, when they went down to the Sugar Girls, 76-11.
Now the stage is being prepared for the inevitable, when the curtains are due to come down on Wednesday night, with host St. Kitts taking on Grenada, at 7:30pm.
The local netball association is anticipated an even larger crowd to the strong support they have received so far, with thousands planning to head to the Pam Tyson Netball Complex, to witness the finals.
Though St. Kitts were the champions in 2009, they lost the title to Grenada last year, thus many are expecting a grudge match between the two OECS member states.
The association has planned a strong program of entertainment for the finals and performances are being planned from local singing sensation, Infamus, who will entertain the crowd during the half time period.
A spokesman for the association also disclosed that a free case of drinks for the fan wearing the most patriotic outfit and a free case of drinks for the St. Kitts fan who can cheer the loudest, will be presented as part of the promotion.
Spectators are being encouraged to walk with their rags and flags to support the local team but many Grenadians who are living and working in the Federation have promised that they too will be at the netball complex, to cheer on their side.
In the meantime, St. Kitts is due to take on St. Lucia on Tuesday night, when Sylvester’s Masquerades, along with big Drum, the Iron Band, DJ piece a Man and DJ Wet Dutt, will be on hand to complete the evening’s entertainment package.
