Gun recovered after police chase

According to a force release, officers of the Special Services Unit (SSU) on Tuesday, 10th March 2015 intercepted two males on a motorcycle along the FT Williams Highway. According to the force, they drew suspicion of having in their possession arms and ammunition. 

The Police Force disclosed that the two men sped away on a motorcycle before a chase ensued, which ended in the vicinity of the C&C Supermarket on George Street.

A search was carried out on the two individuals, which resulted in the discovery and seizure of the loaded semi-automatic pistol. The firearm and ammunition along with the men and motorcycle were taken into police custody and various charges were laid before them resulting from the chase, police said today. 

Meanwhile, Assistant Commissioner of Police Ian Queeley, who has responsibility for crime in the force, commended the officers who were involved in this operation for their keen observation, pursuit and arrest of the individuals.

He is calling on the general public to support the Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force in making the Federation a safer place for citizens and residents.
