Basseterre, St. Kitts, Monday, 16th July, 2018, (MyVueNews.com) – The outbreak of gun fire last weekend is just another example of why members of the public have been raising alarms regarding the state of safety in the country.
That incident, which occurred on Saturday 14th July, just about 8:30 p.m, rocked the neighborhood of West Bourne Ghaut in Basseterre, the island’s capital.
While police have confirmed that their investigations are ongoing, there remains no clear answer surrounding what exactly may have prompted the gun play.
What remains consistent though in the investigation is that the men were shot from a moving vehicle, which stopped at the corner of West Bourne Ghaut and Central Street.
At the time persons were gathered in the area but that did not prevent the car from stopping to unleash its haul of bullets.
Police say that Kirk “Scotty” Hobson of Upper Fiennes Avenue and Javed Gumbs of Lime Kiln were hit by the bullets sustaining injuries about their body.
Both are now being kept at the main hospital, Joseph N France, and are said to be in stable condition. Hobson underwent surgery.
Another person, a female, Gail Williams who was also standing at the corner was also hit by a bullet was treated and discharged.
