Historic “Three Peat” for St. Kitts in Miss Caribbean Talented Teen Pageant

But it was also expected to be a tall order for this 14 year old who was the youngest in the field of nine contestants, with about two other delegates already attaining the age of 18 and one, (Miss Barbados), a university student.

Abraham was being compared with the winners of 2011, Siobhan Phipps and Miss Junika Berry, the 2012 winner. Both ladies, like Abraham, also dominated the pageant with victories in the various segments.

Abraham’s victory, according to the decision of the judges was dominant, having declared winner of all categories, except one.

Overall, Abraham picked up a massive 745 points to defeat her closest rival, Miss Barbados-Heidi Barrow, who made it to First Runner-up. This was one of the better years for Barbados which has been with the pageant for most of its 34 years. Barrow amassed 696.5 points or 48.5 points less than the winner.

Taking Second Runner-up position were two contestants who were locked in a tie on 693 points. Both Miss Nevis, 17 year old Irveeka Nisbett, and Miss Montserrat, 16 year old Vanice Tuitt, copped the third place. This means therefore that Nevis and Montserrat ran short by 3.5 points behind the First Runner-up and had Nevis done slightly better in her interview segment, she could have placed in that higher spot.

The contestant for Nevis was consistently outstanding in her appearances, especially talent, but when it came to the interview, she dropped significantly, as did St. Kitts and a few others. Jamaica however provided the most outstanding response to her question and was rewarded with the prize for Best on Stage Interview.

The Third Runner-up was Miss Dominica, another 18 year old, Jasmine Laville, who scored 691.5 points.

Again the crowd turnout was disappointing, as it has generally been for this year’s carnival. The Caribbean Talented Teen Pageant is usually a well-supported event but sadly this year the interest of carnival fans seemed to have waned.
