Holness promises to balance business and human development

Speaking to a Meet the Ministers series put on by Strategic Corporate Interventions at the Knutsford Court Hotel in Kingston just two days before he is scheduled to take over as Prime Minister, Holness pledged to cut red tape impeding business in Jamaica, and asked for trust between the business class, politicians and vulnerable people for the country’s development.

“I want to make a very clear statement to the business sector that I am pro business”, Holness said, “For Jamaica to grow government must facilitate business and commerce.”

However pursuing a business agenda is not mutually exclusive to addressing poverty, health and education while maintaining fiscal discipline, he added.

“To get all of this done we must have trust in the society. We have demonstrated that we have in this country the social capital to do it,” he said
