Chairman of the facility that caters to the needs of young children, Mr. Sebastian Mottram, informed Miyvue.com that some $200, 000 was raised at the event and he stated that the increased participation of members of the general public was the main contributor to that. Various community organisations, athletes and members of the senior national football team all participated.
Approximately 900 persons are believed to have participated, exceeding the projections of the host committee.
He also said that greater involvement and financial contributions from platinum and other sponsors, along with the generous contributions from individuals in the community also accounted for the improved results this year.
Mottram was of the opinion that the increase in participation was due to the great weather on the day, better marketing, and wider media coverage.
He added that the objectives of the event were to raise the public awareness of the home and they were therefore elated with the exposure they received as a consequence.
Mottram stated that the funds will be used for the day to day running of the home, plus some capital expenditure on refurbishment, such as a new bathroom that he explained will get underway in November.
He went on to thank all the sponsors, volunteers and members of the organising committee for the part they played.
