They were greeted by the Governor General and Prime Minister of St. Kitts and Nevis, Nevisian Premier, Joseph Parry, hundreds of school children and scores of members of the general public.
The couple arrived at Port Zante just after 9:00am.
Upon arrival, the Earl and Countess of Wessex were introduced to all the members of the federal Parliament and also members of the Nevis Island administration. The Royal couple was also introduced to the various carnival winners.
Prince Edward was then escorted to a dais, where he took a royal salute by the Guard of Honour, before proceeding to do an inspection.
Following the inspection Prince Edward greeted members of the crowd on hand who were very anxious to shake his hand.
The Prince and his wife then departed Port Zante, headed to the Kim Collins Highway in East Basseterre.
An event of this magnitude is would be the first time for many individuals here on island and even Passengers on the Emerald Princess cruise ship, who are here visiting the island said they were astonished at the fact that it took them a trip to St. Kitts, before they finally got a chance to see firsthand a member of the British Royal Family.
