Pa-ula, whose birth name is Carlton Edwards, is no stranger to the Calypso arena, as he has competed in the Community Festival that is held in the Shadwell area and on the national scene.
He explained to MiyVue.com that he is hoping to get a chance to perform in this year’s competition as he feels that an event of this sort, provide calypsonians who are not given a chance to move beyond the tents, to not only gain exposure, but present to the public in positive battle.
“I feel that we get more exposure and everyone gets to see us in action” says Pa-ula
With his tune, ‘De Crime Scene’, Pa-ula explores the nature of the ever present crime and violence issue that is plaguing our twin island federation.
People constantly speak of crime,
Some plaguing us all the time,
Too much a violence in de country,
We need peace, love and harmony.
Even though he did not place in any of the prior competitions, he feels that he can outshine his fellow participants.
