I Have Accomplished My Goal Says Miss Caribbean Culture 2012

“Now, all I want to do is get some rest. That is the first thing I have to do. From then I need to get back into pageant mode to prepare for my next pageant.’ “I am just so super excited and thankful that all my hard work and dedication paid off.”

When MiyVue.com spoke with Ms. Adams after winning the Miss Caribbean Culture pageant in Nevis on Monday 6th August, 2012, she took some time to reflect on the contest, highlighting some of the tough moments of the competition.

“While we were back stage waiting to be called on, just before the announcement of the winners, I was there wondering if I did it; if I accomplished my goal.”

“So when I heard the announcements being made, I started to wonder… did I get that crown and I wondered if I would place. As the hostess called out the names of the various runners up, and she reached Third Runner up, Second Runner up then you hear First Runner up, I started to wonder and said, my God! But then after hearing my name I was so excited.”

Miss Adams explained that when the hostess announced Curacao as First Runner, “Honestly I thought I had a good chance of capturing the crown but I was still unsure, especially after knowing that I had made a slip-up in the Interview Segment”.

When asked which of the other contestants she was keeping an eye on, as main competitors, Adams said, “After the final appearance, some of the contestants that I was worried about were, Miss Curacao of course. I must say she was one of my close competitors from the very get go. I also was keeping a close watch on Miss USVI.”

Barbie, as her friends call her, said that it is difficult for her to select which of her appearances was her best one, but she loved her Ambassadorial Wear and also her Swimwear and felt that she accomplished her goal with her Talent Appearance. “Even though I did not get Best Performing Talent, I made a bit of improvement based on my previous performances in other pageants.”

“And my worse segment was the Interview Appearance. I think my nerves got the best of me and I was not relaxed enough to handle the question. I did understand the question. And I did have an answer for the question. But my nerves got the best of me. What is strange is that, it was just the night before, while doing research, I decided to read up on Global Warming and so I knew what to say, but sometimes in these pageants, the nerves could really get the better of you…and unfortunately I allowed it to”

The Miss Caribbean Culture Pageant was held in Nevis as part of the annual celebrations for Culturama. There were 9 territories participating, including, host Nevis, St. Kitts, Anguilla, St. Croix, Curacao, Barbados, St. Lucia, Montserrat and the Dominican Republic.

The First Runner up was Curacao, followed by St. Lucia as Second Runner up and St. Croix Third Runner up.
