A Police official said stepped up patrols and searches have led to increased incidents of discovery of illegal guns and ammunition.
According to the information released, officers of the Nevis Division, Cotton Ground, were conducting patrols, as part of the process to build better community relations.
During the Friday afternoon patrol, however, the Police patrol engaged a group of young persons of interest in the vicinity of a village bar.
The Police information stated, “A subsequent search of the area surrounding the bar uncovered a Smith and Wesson pistol with 5 rounds of ammunition.”
In this latest find, however, Police said no one has been arrested.
