In this country, it has been a very special combination of celebrations for both Christmas and carnival, but a joint event that seeks to protect and preserve the true meaning of the occasion to mark the birth of Christ.
Over the years, the Department of Culture has led the way in organizing and hosting a week-long seasonal celebration of Christmas with the hosting of, “In The Spirit of Christmas”, held annually in the Circus, located in the heart of Basseterre St. Kitts.
This year, the dates allocated for the program are Monday 9th to 11th December, starting at 7:30 pm each night when the circus is transformed and comes to life with variety of artistic performances and special cultural performances from community groups who are passionate about spreading joy and goodwill.
Traditionally at this time of year Kittitians and Nevisians give thanks through workshop for all the blessings that they have received and demonstrate their love, compassion and sharing through service.
In the Spirit of Christmas is a hallmark event that brings the community together to enjoy gifts from talented people expressed through music, dance, theatre and food, while reflecting on family values and the things in life that are truly
precious to us.
Hundreds are expected each night around the historic “Berkeley Memorial”as they remember the spirit of Christmas.
