It was around lunch time on Wednesday that the police in Sandy Point were called into action, after receiving reports that someone had been killed in the nearby village of Newton ground. The investigating team responded to the incident that is believed to have occurred about 12:10pm.
Upon arrival they discovered that the victim was Chelston Mills of newton ground, who was stabbed to death in the vicinity of the Newton ground Primary School.
One (1) suspect, St. Clair Elliot “Scamba” also of Newton Ground is in police custody assisting with the investigation.
In other criminal matters, not related to the homicide, police have also indicated that Nicole Williams of Ottley’s Village was convicted for Larceny by servant committed on 23rd December, 2009, and was fined $1,800 in six months, or 6 months imprisonment. She was also ordered to pay $500 to the victim.
In another matter, Rayan Cadore of Bath Village was convicted at the Charlestown Magistrate’s Court for Possession of Cannabis, committed on 17th July, 2012, at Stoney Grove and fined $800 in one week, or one week in prison with hard labour.
Police also arrested Nigel Philip aka “Apkim Bryan” of Bourkes Project, Sandy Point and charged him for Battery on police, while executing his duty and resisting arrest, committed on 23rd July 2012.
Shane Nisbett of Simmonds Village, Nevis was charged for Larceny, committed on 13 July 2012.
A juvenile of Cole Hill, Nevis was charged with Possession of Firearms and Ammunition, committed on Sunday 22 July 2012.
The Royal St Christopher and Nevis Police Force also executed a stop and search operation, which lead to Davil Zakers of Back Way, Sandy Point being charged for Possession of Cannabis and possession with intent to supply, committed on 24th July 2012.
Whereas the Nevis Division of The Royal St Christopher and Nevis Police Force conducted a series of investigations, which lead to a number of electrical appliances and furniture being seized and taken in police custody. Two persons are currently in police custody assisting in with the investigation
