Not only was this demonstrated on the streets of Basseterre during the last carnival, when they attracted thousands, but their popularity has also been made clear in the recent online poll on local news website, MiyVue.com.
In a poll that asked viewers of MiyVue.com to indicate which song for them was their most favourite from the 2011/2012 National Carnival, some 25% of those voting, indicated that it was IRepSkn by the Nu Vybes Band.
The tune speaks to all Kittitians encouraging them to be a true patriot to their country and asked the Almighty to watch and protect the people of St. Kitts and Nevis.
The theme, ‘IRepSkn’ took pattern from a clothing company and music group that was formed in 2011 to promote the St. Kitts and Kittitian music in particular.
Second place in the poll was ‘Gi Dem a Dougie’ by De unexpected with 19.2%. De Unexpected also placed Second Runner up in the Miyvue.com/ZIZ ‘King of the Tents’ that was held as part of the carnival celebrations.
Meanwhile, third place in the MiyVue.com online poll was the Mighty Honesty with his popular tune, Sing Stupidness, amassing 16.8% of the votes. Honesty has had a great season this year and he also placed Second Runner in the King of Tents.
