Information relayed to MiyVue.com indicates that the incident occurred at around 12:30 p.m. in the vicinity of the roundabout which sits on the entrance of Sir Gillies, Sandy Point.
A senior officer in the Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force told MiyVue.com that according to his understanding of the incident, the vehicle – P4608 – which is owned by Leroy Powell (proprietor of Island Purified Water) was at the time of the incident driven by 22-year-old Valentine Pemberton.
The officer explained that the vehicle was travelling from Newton Ground towards Basseterre via Sandy Point and when it got in the vicinity of the Sir Gillies roundabout, it collided with a pedestrian – Trent ‘Kalangi’ Williams – who was on the seaside of the road.
While this has yet to be confirmed, MiyVue.com understands that the victim was on the side of the road operating a weed-wacker which he used to clear grown grass from the side of the road.
Williams reportedly sustained injuries to his limbs and was taken to the Joseph N. France General Hospital for treatment.
MiyVue.com understands that the driver of the vehicle was not taken into police custody but investigations are ongoing.
This media house contacted Powell of Island Purified Water to ask for a comment about the incident and he said, “I cannot make a comment on the incident because I do not know the full details.”
