It’s been 5 Successful Years in St. Kitts Says Digicel Country Manager

In an exclusive MiyVue.com interview, Latty revealed that is was not an easy period since the inception of Digicel to the Federation in 2005.  “However, to date we have made some outstanding achievements,” he added.

“We broke the monopoly in 2005 which was held by Cable and Wireless, now known as LIME and it has been a challenging market.  However, after five years we can honestly say that there has been tremendous growth and our customer base has increased. We have also managed to do a few important things such as, bringing new products to the market; we’ve also brought the rates down tremendously.”

“As you know, back then calling rates used to be as high as $1 to $2 per minute to call the US and other overseas territories and now because of us, rates are as low as 0.23 cents.  We are proud of what we have achieved and what we have done for St. Kitts and Nevis and more importantly we are grateful and humbled to the customers that we have on our network,” the Country Manager said.

As part of the celebrations of the 5th anniversary, Digicel opened its doors to customers at 6:00 a.m. on Thursday morning offering discounted prices on various phone.

“When I got to the store just before 6:00 a.m. people were already lined up outside and within two hours all the phones were sold out,” Latty told this media house.

Other offers included a $5 free credit to customers as well as gifts for cooperate customers.

Since inception Digicel has also proven itself to be an energetic corporate citizen through several initiatives to show its appreciation to its customers with events such as the first ever Digicel Freedom Concert which followed a line of other activities including; Digicel 2006 Home Cricket Series and local sponsorships that included community football through its association SKNFA league over the past two years and the National Carnival with the Inferno Troupe.
