It’s Budget time

By MyVue News.com Staff Reporter

Basseterre, 8th December, 2021, (MyVue News.com)-Law-makers in St. Kitts & Nevis will be heading to parliament from Tuesday, 14th December, to begin the process for the debate on the 2022 Budget for the country.

The opening day, however, will only feature the presentation of the “Budget Speech” by Minister of Finance and Prime Minister, Dr. Timothy Harris.

Given the economic strain being faced by citizens in the country, it is unlikely that the government would seek to introduce any new taxes.

However, there is no guarantee that existing fees, levies and taxes would not be adjusted.

While the Annual Financial Statement and Budgetary Proposals will be presented on Tuesday, at the St. Kitts Marriott Hotel, the actual debate days will be held at the National Assembly Chambers, on at Government Headquarters, in Basseterre.

The switch on Tuesday, for the opening exercises, is to accommodate guests from the public and private sector, and due to current COVID-19 regulations, the effort is being made to reduce congestion.
