The “American Idol” judge is being sued by a Los Angeles man, who claims Lopez, 44, duped him into sending naked photo of himself and demo CDs in the mail, with the promise of launching his music career — and leaving her husband for him, according to TMZ.
The man, identified by the gossip site as Rodrigo Ruiz, filed a $10,000 lawsuit against the singer, claiming that several letters Lopez supposedly sent him led him to believe he had a chance at stardom.
Excerpts from the letters obtained by TMZ include promises that Lopez “is interested” in Ruiz and plans on leaving her husband for him. The 2008 letters also ask that he send her photos of himself “both with and without clothes.”
However, the written requests appear to be sent from a post office box linked to a 53-year-old Los Angeles woman — not Lopez.
In his filing, Ruiz claimed he was so distraught by waiting in vain to hear back from Lopez that he had to seek professional help after suffering from depression, the gossip site reports.
He also filed a police report claiming sexual assault against Lopez, TMZ reports, certain that the “Get On the Floor” singer is really the one who sent the exchanges.
A rep for Lopez shot down Ruiz’s claim, telling the gossip site that it’s clearly a “desperate attempt for notoriety.”
“Ms. Lopez has never seen or met the plaintiff, nor has she ever communicated with him,” her rep told TMZ. “We believe this matter should be summarily dismissed.”
