“I’m fostering her while I’m here in New York making a record,” the singer said in a video posted on YouTube Monday. “I thought it would be nice to foster Oprah because she’s so, so sweet. And I can’t take her home because I live so far away, and I have four dogs of my own.”
The 6-year-old bull mastiff-pit bull mix was rescued from a New York City shelter by Animal Haven in downtown Manhattan and has been with Stone for about three days.
“She was looking for a low-key dog that needed out of the shelter but could handle being in the recording studio with her during the day,” intake and care specialist Jennifer Bristol tells PEOPLE.
Oprah is a big couch potato and wants nothing more than to hang with people, Bristol adds. She’s been enjoying lots of belly rubs from Stone, who promised she’d continue to share video and pictures of the dog.
Anyone interested in adopting the lovable pup should visit Animal Haven’s website or call (212) 274-8511 for more information.
