The incident, as a police press release informs, took place close to midnight with the victim being Kaspar Rouse, 20, of Fortlands.
A number of individuals who live in the vicinity where the incident occurred, spoke to MiyVue.com and explained that they were in their homes, preparing for bed, when they heard the sound of a barrage of bullets. Others indicate that they were asleep and were awoken by the sound of the gunshots.
Rouse, according to reports, was “at St. Johnston Avenue in the vicinity of a bar in the company of a number of persons when an unknown man carrying a gun, came there and fired a number of shots and shot him in his upper left leg.” He was transported to the Joseph N. France General Hospital where “he received treatment for his injuries and has been admitted in stable condition.”
“…police from the Criminal Investigations Department (CID), Special Services Unit (SSU) and the Anti-Gang Unit responded to a report of shooting in the St. Johnston Village area…Officers from the Crime Scene Department processed the crime scene, collected a number of items of evidential value and took them into police custody for further analysis.”
To date, the police inform, “there are no suspects in this matter” but investigations into the crime are continuing.
