Last year, Konris did not compete, after completing a four – peat victory, in 2008. It is clear however, that Konris will perform at the launch of the calypso tents, scheduled for 7th November.
The question remains though, will he, or will he not be competing for the crown?
Miyvue.com, attempted to get the answer to that question on Thursday 28th October, following his guest appearance at the Kittitian Super Stars Juniors, 10 to 12 age group finals, at ZIZ Television.
“I will be singing at the launch of the tents, but with regards to me competing for the crown, I wish not to disclose that as yet,” the former Calypso King said.
He however went on to state that he will make a public announcement one week after the launch of the tents.
Is it that Konris wants to hear what he has to go up against first, before he decides to compete, or is that he just does not have what it takes to win anymore? “It’s none of the above, I will let you know in time to come,” Konris told miyvue.com.
The former King recently captured the Leeward Islands Calypso Competition crown in Anguilla, to become the first calypsonian to win for two consecutive years.
The four-peat National Calypso Monarch said he has been working on new material, despite the fact that he won the regional show with the 2008/2009 piece, “Mommy and Daddy”, and the 2007 hit, “Sleeping Tiger”.
Will he, or will he not compete? That remains a guarded secret until the second week of November, when Konris says he will make that announcement.
