Tobias was referring to Othniel Hyligar known locally as “Big Show”, who now plays for the University of Maine-Fort Kent UMFK, as a power forward.
The Basketball Association president, while congratulating Hyligar said, “We are extremely proud of Othniel and his achievement as he becomes one of the elite groups of players at UMFK who have scored 1000 career points.”
“Scoring 1000 points in a career is quite impressive and it shows not only the talent of Othniel but his determination and will to do well,” Tobias continued.
Hyligar achieved the milestone during an impressive double-double with 18 points and 15 rebounds, in a 64-58 win over St. Thomas University (Fredericton, Canada) Sunday afternoon in Fort Kent, Maine.
The 6’ – 4” former Fig Tree Dirt Revellers player went over career point one thousand on a lay-up in the first half. He was eight of seventeen from the field and eight of his fifteen rebounds were offensive.
Reports have indicated that Hyligar is averaging 12 pts and 9 rebs over his College career.
