Kittitian to be Honoured in Canada

According to correspondence from Christopher McCreery, the Private Secretary & Executive Director in the Office of the Lieutenant Governor of Halifax, Mr. S.I. Rustum Southwell, formerly of Fortlands, Basseterre, St. Kitts, is to be awarded the Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal, in recognition of his contributions to Canada and Nova Scotia, in particular. 

Rustum is the son of former Premier and now National Hero of St. Kitts & Nevis, the late C. A. Paul Southwell. 

The Medal is to be presented during a formal investiture which will be held at Government House, Halifax, on Thursday 22nd March. 

Family sources have also revealed that Mr. Southwell is also to be awarded an honourary Diploma, from the Nova Scotia Community College, in Halifax N.S. 

This presentation is to be made at Convocation at the College, in June of this year.
