Kittitians and Nevisians in USA to Observe Independence

Nationals from St. Kitts and Nevis who reside in the area will congregate in their numbers at the National Wesleyan Church (6324 Riggs Road) in Hyattsville, Maryland 20783, to participate.

Following the service, visitors and nationals alike will be treated to a Luncheon in the Church Annex.

This week, the St. Kitts and Nevis Nationals Association DC, (SKNNA- DC), received substantial support from the Embassy of St. Kitts and Nevis, towards the hosting of the event.

The Embassy of St. Kitts and Nevis, is said to have been very supportive of SKNNA-DC, from its inception, assisting with logistics, provision of a venue for meetings in the early stages of formation of the Association, and with Embassy personnel supporting activities, in their private capacity.

There will be other activities in the coming months to help promote an increased awareness of the twin-island Federation, to persons resident in the home-base of SKNNA-DC.

One positive issue coming out of the formation of  SKNNA-DC is that some persons who are resident in the United States of America, but have ancestral ties to St. Kitts-Nevis, are beginning to step forward to reconnect with a part of their lives and culture, that they have not been fully in touch with.

In September, SKNNA-DC hosted a very popular and well attended family fun day and plans are already in place to prepare for a repeat in 2013, with even more nationals in attendance.
