Konris’ Unstoppable Force wins Soca Monarch


Going on stage at position number seven (7), Konris’ entrance alone was relentless as he arrived on the back of a Mack truck surrounded by revellers chanting “Unstoppable force”. The ground at the Sugar Mill shook as the large crowd that gathered shouted and waved their rags and flags as Konris and his troupe paraded across the stage during his performance.

Even though the show started several minutes late it was none stop energetic performances from the thirteen contestants as they kept the crowd wanting more.

From “Food All Over” and “Pork” on stage for dinner to Queen Anastasia swinging over the crowd via a hoist, patrons were well entertained for the duration of the show which climaxed at about 12:55 am Sunday 19th December.

X-Man from Nevis with “Food all over” took the 1st runner up position while 2nd runner up went to Shakki Star Fire with “High for carnival”, and C-Money and Rucas captured the 3rd runners up spot.

All the contestants were presented trophies by Deputy Chair for the National Carnival Committee, Shannon Hawley, for participating in the event.


In an earlier article published by this media house, the public, via an online poll conducted by, voted Konris the winner of the Soca Monarch Competition.

Though he is not competing in this year’s Calypso Monarch competition for a consecutive two years, Konris has proven that he still has what it takes to win.  He now has another crown to his name, the Beaumont Park Soca Monarch, as well as the cash prize of EC $10,000.

Speaking with Konris said he was thankful for being crowned the Beaumont Park Soca Monarch as well as the support he received from those who attended the show.

The judging criteria for this year’s Soca Monarch were as follows; 40 points for performance, 20 for lyrics, 20 points for melody, 10 for creativity, and 10 for crowd response. Konris earned a total of 288 points out of the a possible 300.

Other contestants for this year’s Beaumont Park Soca monarch included; Hotrod, Rico Righteous and Haile J, Eazi, Mr. World, Anastasia, Ras Kelly, De Provoker, Soca Samuel and Shakel and Fire.
