At a special cocktail ceremony held on Wednesday night, (5th October, 2011), for sponsors and media, at the Brazilian embassy in Fortlands, Basseterre, organizers indicated that the event is already close to “sold Old”, especially for the package deal that has been offered to potential spectators.
It was stated that those in attendance should expect to be wowed by the special menu of Latin foods and drinks that have been incorporated as part of the menu, mixed with the sensational musical performances by Fusion Latina, the featured act for the 2011 festival.
Additional entertainment will be provided, said organizers, by the Puerto Rico African Heritage Dance (Bomba), by Areyto members of the Puerto Rico National Folklore Ballet.
A pre festival performance has also been planned for the Marriott Hotel, on Saturday, 8th October, to provide patrons with a sample of what to expect the following day, Sunday, at the Spice Mill Restaurant, at the Southeast Peninsula.
It was also disclosed that there will be live demonstrations on the making of the famous and world renowned “Cuban Cigars”. Many prizes of various varieties will also be a feature of the festival which is due to start at around 2:30pm, running until approximately 6:00pm when the after party kicks in.
A Limited number of VIP Tickets, said organizers, may still be available and will allow patrons to have a reserved seating for the buffet lunch.
Free transportation to Spice Mill is also being arranged for members of the public hoping to attend. Buses have been scheduled to leave Basseterre, from Independence Square, at 12:30pm and 1:45pm; with another pick up this time from Frigate Bay, at 1:15pm and 2:20pm.
Among the list of this year’s sponsors are UPS/Hobson Enterprises, Formosa Garden Restaurant, Heineken, Frito Lay, Carambola, Kajola Kristado, St. Kitts Marriott, Shiggidy Shack, St. Tourism Authority, Sol E Mar and Conquering Storm Shutters.
