This year, the festival is being held under the theme, “Brazilian’s Carnival”
According to the Event Organizer, Michelle Demming, the major groups expected to participate at the concert today are Ritmo Brazil and Batukealo. Additional side features will include a demonstration in cigar making.
She also disclosed that a more elaborate program of events was planned this time around, and instead of a one day affair on the beach, other activities were incorporated. For instance, a Latin American Movie Presentation was planned for the 18th, while Saturday 20th October saw the Latin flavour being taken to the St the St. Kitts Marriott Plaza, with Latin Fusion as the headliner band.
Event Director, Michelle Demming said the expectations for this year’s festivals are much greater, and they are hoping to increase the amount of persons they had last year. She also underscored the importance of the festival as part of the overall national effort to increase the awareness of Latin music and better relations between Latin speaking countries and the people of St. Kitts and Nevis; so that they can understand that there are traditions, music, heritage and culture that can be shared.
Sunday’s concert is due to commence from 2:00pm, running into the evening.
