Latin Fiesta to get Bigger in 2012

The festival, according to one official, seeks to enhance cultural exchanges between Kittitians, Nevisians and Latinos, and to promote tourism and economic activity in St. Kitts-Nevis.

According manager of Kajola-Kristada, (the main sponsor and organizing agency), Jose Rosa, they are hoping to attract over 2,500 people to the event to be hosted under the theme “Brazilian’s Carnival”. They hope to also involve other cultural expressions and activities, which are aligned with the aims of achieving multicultural interchanges.

“This is truly a part of our company’s social development thrust towards the promotion of multi-cultural appreciation,” Rosa said. “Last year it was generally agreed that the cultural exchange, Latin music appreciation, food and festivities, augured well for what could potentially become the root of a new wave of national appreciation and promotion of the artistic heritage of our Caribbean people.”

Other than the mega-Latin party, the Festival will also include a Latin American/Caribbean movie presentation on October 18th, a Latin Flavour Show at the St. Kitts Marriott Plaza featuring Latin Fusion on October 20th,an authentic Cigar Roller, a Rotisserie Pork Chef, Latino Craft displays and the much anticipated Salsa Dance Competition.

The Third Annual Latin Fiesta will take place on Sunday 21st October, 2012 at Carambola Beach Club at Friar’s Bay.

This year the Fiesta will be infused with the world-renowned influences of the Brazilian carnival and will feature Batukealo, which is a powerful musical group with twelve talented musicians and the Ritmo Brazil, a colourful group of musicians and Samba dancers in dazzling costumes, bringing the sights and sounds of a fantastic Brazilian carnival experience.

Last year, Latin Fiesta pulsated with music, food, and with hundreds of people attending the event. Thrilling rhythmic music moved and grooved the audience, which represented a wide cross-section of the Federation, including visitors from the neighbouring islands.

Latin Fiesta starts at 1:30 p.m. on Sunday 21st October, 2012 and goes well into the evening.

Latin Fiesta is sponsored by UPS/Hobson Enterprises, St. Kitts Tourism Authority, Frito Lay, Club Social, Heineken, Digicel, Bacardi, Royal Beach Casino, Shiggidy Shack, St. Kitts Marriott Resort, Delisle Walwyn, Avalon Lab, ZIZ and Deya Elevators.
