Officially opening its doors to the public just months ago, Miyvue.com, is an online media house which offers a wide-range of services to the public – which include but are not limited to – the dissemination of news, entertainment, business reports, sports and other features such as the weather report, ferry schedule, photo gallery, movie schedule and a weekly polling on current issues.
MiyVue.com’s owner and Managing Director Val Henry explained that the philosophy of the new media house encompasses the provision of an outlet for members of the public to express their views.
“Miyvue.com in its philosophy, is designed to create a media avenue through which people in the public of all persuasions can disseminate their information, their messages, in a very frank, fair, and hopefully objective fashion. The philosophy also speaks to having an open voice where Miyvue.com will provide that opportunity for people in politics, business, sports, religion et cetera, to have a media channel that can help the world and people in St. Kitts Nevis better understand their concerns and their interests.”
Henry revealed that, just with any other organisation, MiyVue.com has experienced initial challenges including the unfamiliarity of the MiyVue brand to the St. Kitts Nevis populace. Resultantly, “we have started a process of creating a brand for MiyVue.com, which will run for a number of months as we try to spread the word about the media organisation that is the latest news entity in St. Kitts and Nevis.”
The website’s launch, the Managing Director explained, has a multi-pronged approach which includes promoting the MiyVue brand.
“That is partly the reason we are having a launch celebration on Friday, 3rd December in the Independence Square, so that we can begin to formally and officially introduce the brand to the public, let them become familiar with the people associated with the brand and let them have an appreciation and clearer understanding regarding features and offerings of the MiyVue website.”
The launch will feature a unique mix of carnival personalities and entertainment which includes performances by King Konris, Hot Rod, La La, C-Money, Shakki, Dagah, the Small Axe Band and models from the Movado Model Agency. A host of other entertaining activities will punctuate the event including a 35-45 minute presentation of carnival costumes from X-Treme, PhunnMakers, FhunnVybez, Banker’s Mas Camp and the Small Axe Band which will be launching a troupe for this year’s festivities.
“The name ‘Celebration Launch’ is very deliberate. It means that we have decided to incorporate business and entertainment. We’ve decided to incorporate MiyVue.com with the spirit of carnival and helping the Carnival Committee spread the name brand of Sugar Mas,” Henry explained.
Asked why he made the decision to create a media house when so many others exist, Henry explained that, “The freedom of expression is never at an exhaustive standpoint.
“There is always opportunity for people to have more channels through which they can share their views and whereas you have many media organisations in St. Kitts and Nevis, there are not many web-based media organisations in the Federation. So we have entered a field that is still wide open and is not crowded. Our job is to complement what presently exists in terms of our coverage and reporting on news and current affairs in the country…”
Pre-launch activities commence at 3:30 p.m. with the official launch beginning at 5:00 in the afternoon. Post-launch activities have also been arranged.
