The writing was always on the wall for the Leewards when they were bowled out for only 81 in their first innings, on the opening day Friday. This small target was easily taken over by Trinidad when they scored 172.
After losing on first innings by 91 runs, the Leeward Islands, in their second knock at the crease, needed to score big, if they were to set a respectable and challenging total for the Trinidadians, but they failed to do so.
In the end, Leewards managed only 158. This meant that Trinidad needed only 68 for victory.
Major Contributions in the Leeward Islands second innings came from Austin Richards Jr who stroked 44, Gavin Tonge 33 and Devon Thomas with 27. Bowling for Trinidad and Tobago saw Kantasingh picking up 6 wickets for 77 runs while his compatriot Imran Khan collected 3 for 20.
With just a target of 68 for victory despite losing an early wicket, the Trinidad and Tobago side made light work of their target, with opener Justin Guillen making 47 not out and Marlon Barclay 20 not out, defeating the Leeward Islands by 9 wickets.
For his match haul of 10 wickets for 94 runs Kavesh Kantasingh was declared Man of the Match.
